My stationery remains stationary

My stationery remains stationary.
The files and boxes were bought with optimism,
But there is still a great division
Between them and the heap of papers. A schism.
The thought, the hope was there.
With the purchase was potential,
But the thought remained a thought
And the pile's growth has been exponential.
